Snail is a mechanism designed to climb stairs in which each step is 10 centimeters high. The machine fits inside a box of 30*30*30 cubic centimeters. I got the idea of the system from a commercially available stair-climbing robot called stairBOT. Currently I am guiding a team of undergraduate students to make a larger version of Snail, so that it can climb stairs of larger dimensions.
